Catch you up on things..

Well this is obvisouly my first post. Just to let you know that this blog is not Just about horses, training OR my photography its about me, and aspects of my life despite the title. This blog most Likely WON'T be all that interesting.

So.. To start with my horse Jessie.(on the left) I was with my grandfather at an auction on Sunday November 18th 2007. We looked all over at all the horses, and 4 interested me. The first horse I noticed happened to be the one I ended up with. A dark bay, 15.3 hand yearling Thoroughbred Filly, by Bright Valour Out of Fleur D'Feu. She was Quiet, and looked miserable until some one would come over to look at her. I spent alot of time standing by the side of her pen. Although while i was wandering there were three others that caught my eye. A red dun tovero weanling colt with ALOT of white. Which I decided against because I would not have the patience with him becuase I didn't want to have to wait 2 years to be able to do much else past groundwork. He went for $250 to the same place as his mother who also sold for $250. Also a Black overo weanling filly, who despite being very cute was also too yound for me. I can't remember what this filly and her mother sold for. The last Mare I noticed was a rich red bay, 2 year old (turning three) I never got my hopes up for the AQHA mare for a few reasons, one being that she was very well bred & registered (my filly is well bred but not registered yet, I do have the service certificate) This mare was AWESOME but i knew she would be the highest price... I was right she sold for $1650...

Unfortunatly my filly was #37 out of 40 horses, so we had to wait all day for them to get through all the tack sales, and then #35 other horses(her mother came in the ring with her) Well for every horse my grandfather knew i had liked he gave me the look.. I can't describe it but it basically says "do you want it, cause I will bid if you want" I passed up many horses which had been given "the look" most were to young or too small for my liking. After the first 20 horses grandpa decided that he would go pick up the tack he bought so that when the sale was over we could leave... BUT when you "check out" they take your bidding card and tear it up... So he came and sat down and said "Well we've seen all the ones you liked havn't we?" I just nodded no.. an he says .. " oh thats right you liked the little thoroughbred colt" I laughed and corrected him "BIG Thououghbred Filly" and he said oh shes not that big (he had hardly looked at her ) well long story short he bought her for me for Christmas can you guess how much we paid? ... $113 canadian. I ran out and took a few pictures before we left. We found out later that there was $400 owning on the original stud fee. which we paid and now have her service certificate. STILL as a $500 horse.. extremely well worth it. I met her Sire Bright Valour 2 weeks or so ago...

Any way, I figure I've bored you enough already, and will post about our progress to this point another day.
